The Chrono-Synclastic Infundibulum Camp of the Space Wanderer and Home of the 54th Portal of the Soul is where all the different kinds of truths fit together in a theme camp for Burning Man 2014 that invites you to share your stories, your celebrations, your music, your poetry, and your art! Come play chess or see or be what’s on the Big TV. Check out the spacecraft powered by the Universal Will to Become, or UWTB, and harness some of that energy for transformation for yourself.
If you’re a Kurt Vonnegut fan, you likely recognize the references to his writings, particularly, Sirens of the Titans where Vonnegut defines chrono-synclastic infundibulum as “those places … where all the different kinds of truths fit together.” (This camp was formerly known as “The Church of God the Utterly Indifferent.”)
While playing chess, seeing what’s on the Big TV, and strolling through the artwork will be the camp’s main activity for wanderers during the day, at night the camp will be transformed into a caravansary. The 250’ long mural will provide nearly three sides of an exterior of the caravansary courtyard, with the dome serving as one large tent. Within and without, people can come into the caravansary and the dome to gather around a glowing artwork to share stories, sing songs, play acoustic music, perform spoken word, recite poetry, discuss research, and develop problem solving strategies for how to be thought leaders and change agents. Each evening will have a theme gleaned from a Kurt Vonnegut novel. We will reach out to different groups (including Burning Nerds, Black Rock Scouts, Kidsville, the Artery, and others) to host evening gatherings and to hang artwork on the dome.
The Space Wanderers include sTeVE Knauff, Rosel Weedn, Matt Harvey, Marshall Sheridan, and Gwendolyn Alley from Ventura, California, and the New York Contingent of Bowman etc with .
